Public Lecture: Professor Christopher Browning

Professor Christopher Browning, foremost historian of the Holocaust, will be giving a lecture on “Holocaust Denial and the Historian as Expert Witness”.

Professor Christopher Browning is the author of eight books and has served as an expert witness in war crimes’ trials in Australia, Canada, and Great Britain. He has also served as an expert witness in two Holocaust denial cases including David Irving’s libel suit against Deborah Lipstadt in 2000.

This lecture will explore the common challenge facing the expert witnesses, namely the need to provide convincing evidence for the so-called historical malpractice and conscious falsification practised by deniers.

Professor Christopher Browning is in Australia as guest lecturer at the University of Melbourne.
